“The BARBARA bag was developed while in lockdown. For the set, I reference my grandmother’s house and the childhood memories I have of the space. It is a constant reference in my work. I collaborated with amazing photographers, stylists and set designers to create this abstract world that I imagine the bag to exist in.”

About the Artist

Joshua Ewusie is a London-based Fashion Designer. His work references multiple sources but he likes to relate it to his West African background with the final outcome being his viewpoint.

Due to the pandemic, his placement year was cut short and he decided to take another year out of his studies – a BA in Fashion Design with Marketing course at Central Saint Martins. He has taken this time to work on personal projects and was fortunate enough to be mentored by designer Supriya Lele as part of the mentoring matters programme.

The series is a product of his current accessory-focused project in which he collaborated with amazing photographers, stylists and set designers to create this abstract world that he imagines the Barbara bag exists in.
