Izu Okwuobasi is a Nigerian photographer and engineer based in the United States. His creative journey began unexpectedly on construction sites across America, where vast landscapes; swamps, mountains, quiet towns, awakened in him a need to document what he saw. What began as spontaneous captures soon became an intentional journey of storytelling through photography.
In December 2023, Izu held his debut solo exhibition in Lagos titled Obodo Oyinbo: The Million Mile Experience. The two-day show was a deeply personal reflection of his experience as a Nigerian living in America, blending scenes from his five-year journey across the U.S. with images from a recent return to his ancestral home in Eastern Nigeria. The exhibition served both as a tribute to his late father and as an invitation for audiences to view America, and home, through the eyes of a nomadic dreamer shaped by hope, loss, and cultural duality.
At the heart of Izu’s creative practice is Louiversal Studios, a visual storytelling studio that explores landscapes, identities, and human experiences across continents. Through the studio, Izu captures overlooked details and quiet truths from places as varied as rural America, ancestral Nigeria, and Western Europe.

Following the powerful debut of Obodo Oyinbo: The Million Mile Experience, photographer Izu Okwuobasi returns with the second chapter of his visual journey: Obodom: The Journey Home.
Curated and produced by Seju Alero Mike (SAM), founder of Osengwa, “Obodom: The Journey Home” is a post-immigration reflection that explores the emotional terrain of migration, identity, and return. Through a two-day immersive exhibition, Izu documents the realities of life between two worlds; America and Nigeria, inviting audiences into an intimate narrative of longing, discovery, and belonging.
