Harvard Divinity School: Evolution of Spirituality
23rd - 26th April 2025
Harvard Divinity School
Curated by Seju Alero Mike of OSENGWA, and featuring the artistic creations of Ramon Shitta, Ifedolapo Arolawun and Noah Okwudini, Beyond the Seenexplores the convergence of art, spirituality, and technology through a multidisciplinary selection of contemporary African works. Embracing a decolonial approach to storytelling, the showcase reimagines African spiritual practices using both traditional and digital mediums, offering an interactive experience for in-person and virtual audiences.
Rooted in ancestral traditions, the exhibition highlights art and technology as powerful tools for spiritual inquiry, connection, and healing. By integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR), it challenges colonial narratives that have dismissed African spirituality, instead reclaiming and revitalizing these traditions for new generations.
Beyond the Seen invites audiences to engage with the evolving nature of spirituality in the digital age. By bridging past and future through immersive artistic narratives, it continues the legacy of African griots and scribes, ensuring these stories remain vibrant and accessible for years to come.
