Echoes of the Nile is a visual invocation—an intimate journey through ancestral memory, spiritual symbolism, and sacred storytelling. In her debut solo exhibition, artist Data Oruwari invites viewers to engage with a collection of intricate line drawings, sacred motifs, and metaphysical reflections inspired by the principles of Ma’at—truth, balance, justice, and cosmic order.
What began as a personal exploration into African spiritual systems has unfolded into a powerful visual language: each work a portal, a prayer, a mirror. Originally conceived as the foundation for a forthcoming oracle deck, the pieces in this exhibition function not only as artworks but as visual technologies for reflection, intention, and connection.
The exhibition also features selected studies that reveal the artist’s creative process, a small grouping of early spiritual works titled Past Is Prologue, and a digital prelude presented at Harvard Divinity School’s Evolution of Spirituality Conference.
Echoes of the Nile is a return, a remembering, and a reclaiming of spiritual sovereignty through art.
