Noah Misan Okwudini is a Lagos-based experimental artist, writer, and musician whose practice spans photography, sound, digital media, and mixed reality. Rooted in African futurism and collective memory, Okwudini’s work explores the intersections of climate, spirituality, and cultural resilience, offering art as a site of healing, speculation, and transformation.
With a deep interest in the unseen and the ancestral, his practice maps contemporary socio-ecological realities while envisioning alternate futures. Performing musically under the moniker XO Dini, Noah blends sound and storytelling as immersive tools to reconnect communities to their spiritual and environmental heritage.
He was a member of the Goethe-Institut’s Dreaming New Worlds cohort and a recipient of the S+T+ARTS4Africa residency grant through his collective, Ala Praxis. His body of work invites us to ask what can still be reimagined.
Rooted in ancestral traditions, the exhibition highlights art and technology as powerful tools for spiritual inquiry, connection, and healing. By integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR), it challenges colonial narratives that have dismissed African spirituality, instead reclaiming and revitalizing these traditions for new generations.
Beyond the Seen invites audiences to engage with the evolving nature of spirituality in the digital age. By bridging past and future through immersive artistic narratives, it continues the legacy of African griots and scribes, ensuring these stories remain vibrant and accessible for years to come.
This showcase explores the intersection of art and augmented reality (AR). The artworks exhibited today are printed digital creations infused with embedded AR. This means that when you scan the artworks with a compatible smartphone or tablet, you will see them come to life in augmented reality.
